On Fritz's last day of paternity leave we decided to take an adventure to Africa....well kind of. We actually just went to the World Forestry Center.

Solari brought the sunshine!

The day I went into labor, it down poured (just like our wedding day!). Typical Portland style for spring. Early the next morning Solari was born, and it has been sunny and warm ever since. We have enjoyed walks and time outside each day. Today Solari is 2 weeks old!!!!

So where did the name come from?

First, Solari is her name, there is no name sake but we had a lot of inspiration.

1. This March Fritz's grandmother gave us a bell from the Italian architect Paolo Soleri. The bell has a beautiful, yet strong design. The sound fills our backyard outside Solari's room every windy Portland day. See video below.
2. Paolo Soleri was one of the early adopters of sustainability. Portland, where Solari was born, is one of the leading sustainable cities in the world.
3. Arizona, where Paolo made his US home is a very special place for us. Fritz's grandparents live there and we have spent vacation time in the mountains outside Scottsdale. See photo below.
4. Sol and solar clearly mean the sun. Solari's face was filled with energy and sun when she was born. The midwife said one of the most attentive babies she has seen in a long time.
5. About a year ago, we found a yellow painting. It kind of looks like the sun and hangs in Solari's room above her dresser. See photo.

Jewelry gifts from Fritz. Mothers day (to-be) jewelry and a Push gift (the jeweler even called it this)! Did I ever say my husband is the best...?

As I wait, I keep working on the garden, flowers and vegetables. Below is just a quick snap of one of the garden boxes .

So far, being overdue is not bad at all. I feel great. I just hope she comes soon as we are anxious to meet her!

Fritz was lucky that baby was late, as it allowed him to get a good ski in yesterday at Mt. Hood. He had his cell on, just in case....

Calistoga Mud and Rose Petal Foot Bath

My wonderful husband gave me a mud and rose petal foot bath and scrub this afternoon. Felt so great!
